Finishing up our Menorahs

We were so happy to see everyone after Thanksgiving break. We missed Ilan, Benny and Lance. We hope they will be back really soon.
We finished up our Menorahs. We glued pennies and bolts on our Menorah. We also got to paint with blue! We painted toilet paper rolls with blue paint for our Chanuka Recital. We are talking about whats going to be happening at our Recital. We are so excited for our families to see us singing and dressed up in the costumes we made.

Thanksgiving Vacation Begins.

Today, we had a very small class, but we had a lot of fun! When the yeladim first came in, each table had a different activity on it. First each child shellacked their Menorah at one table. Then they went to the second table and glued on their dreidel costume a Nun, Gimel, Hay, and Shin.
Afterwards by playtime, we got to play with goop and make a free art about Chanuka to put on our Art Board.
We then put in our last cans for the food drive and brought it together to the office. We continued on to the backroom to watch a Chanuka video, Lights, the story of Chanuka.

Making Dreidel Costumes

Today, we began to make our Dreidel costumes for the Chanuka Recital. First we colored it with blue dot markers. Then Morah Perel and Morah Bella helped us put glue on our dreidel and put blue glitter on the glue.
We took advantage of the warm weather and went outside to play for a while. When we came back inside, we looked at all the cans the yeladim brought from home and talked about how there are people who are hungry and we are giving them food. We know that its a big mitzvah to help people and we like to do mitzvot.

Wow! A new color - Blue

When we came into class this morning, we all gathered around one table and watched and helped Morah Bella make blue goop. We got to mix the blue food coloring into the glue. Once it was finished, all the yeladim got a piece of goop. It felt smooth and when we pulled the goop, it grew longer and longer. We then went on to look around our classroom for things that are blue. After breakfast, we went on a blue hunt around the block and ended the hunt in the playground.
Thank you Hashem for such a sunny, warm day!

Morah Perel has started reading every day a book about each child in the class and about how special they are to their parents and to their friends. The children will get a copy to take home on Friday of their own book.

We really missed our friends Benny, Lance, and Reuven today! Feel better quick!

Painting our Menorah

Today, we painted our Menorahs!
After breakfast, Morah Perel put a smock on every child and we all sat by the table. We had three colors to choose from to paint our Menorah. Every child chose their color and started painting. Some childen decided to mix a few colors while other children stuck with one color. After the painting, we sprinkled glitter on our menorah and put it away to dry.
Next week we will continue our beautiful Menorah!

Wow - Beginning of Chanuka learning!

We had a busy busy week.

On Monday, we went to the Gym. Morah Perel sadly left the camera at school so we didn't get any pictures. When we came back, we had some extra time, so we began our Menorah for our bulletin board. We decorated two of our Menorah's candles. We glued pompoms on one and the other foam shapes.

On Tuesday, we continued our class Menorah. We made four candlesticks through out the day! We decoratedd with beads, sequins, pasta, and crepe paper. Then while all the yeladim napped, Morah Perel went and bought supplies for us to make our very own menorahs!

On Wednesday, when the Yeladim came to class, they each found a piece of wood and a piece of sandpaper. Morah Perel showed us how to sand our board and we got to work. Once we got our board smooth, we glued a little candle holder on for the shammash.

 We had a great time outside on Wednesday! The fresh air made us so hungry!
